Impactiful Community Projects: The Strength of Health Literacy

Health literacy is a social determinant that allows for a reduction in social inequalities, greater equity and a better balance in the social gradient, particularly for those who are more socio-economically deprived, older people, those with lower educational levels and fewer opportunities. By promoting competencies, health literacy produces empowerment in the knowledge, skills, behaviors and attitudes of the people involved. Therefore, the projects of organizations that promote and invest in health literacy make it possible to improve conditions and increase social justice. In this parallel session on Impactiful Community Projects: The Strength of Health Literacy we will discuss interventions based on the dimensions of health literacy for better access, understanding and use of resources that lead to greater health and quality of life. The speakers will bring to light community intervention projects, with repercussions for individuals, families and communities. It will be a panel of experts who will certainly enrich the vision of interventions and the multidimensional and multifactorial importance of health literacy in practice.
