Paulo Calvinho

Paulo Calvinho was born in Luanda in 1972, the father of two children. Since 2015, he has been a Consultant in Cardiothoracic surgery and, from November 2019, coordinated the General Thoracic Surgery Unit until July 2023. At this time, he was nominated as head of the newly formed Thoracic Surgical Department at ULS S. de José. He is also the Surgical Coordinator of the Lung Transplant Unit at the same Hospital, which performs around 40 transplants a year. Paulo Calvinho is involved in medical education. He is a Guest Assistant Lecturer of Thoracic Surgery at NOVA Medical School and a College of Thoracic Surgery Direction’s Portuguese Medical Council member. He is also a member of the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology and the Portuguese Society of Cardiac Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, where he organizes and participates in several initiatives promoting medical education.
