Margarida Matos Rosa is former President of the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC), which she led for 6 years until 2023. She is currently Board member at Princeton’s Association of Graduate Alumni, where she leads its Lifelong Learning Initiative. During her tenure at the AdC, she was Vice-Chair of the International Competition Network (ICN), i.e. the international antitrust enforcers’ group, and member of the OECD’s Bureau of the Competition Committee. Under her leadership, the Portuguese Competition Authority became one of the top 8 world enforcers, from #40 before she joined. She contributed to shaping EU antitrust policy, one that supports consumers and firms that want to compete on the merits. This was particularly relevant throughout post-pandemic economic recovery and times of high inflation. Prior to this role, she worked for the Portuguese Securities Markets Commission, heading the investment management department. Ms. Matos Rosa also spent several years in the financial private sector (BNP Paribas, Santander Investment and UBS Bank) in the areas of economic research, investment banking and investment management. She holds an M.P.A. from Princeton University and an undergraduate degree in Economics from UC Louvain (Belgium).
