João Vasconcelos

Assistant Professor at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria

Graduated in geography, Master in Territorial Management and Environmental Planning and with a PhD in Environment from the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Since 2006, he has been a professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. He is currently a researcher at the Center for Geographic Studies at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Lisbon (IGOT). His research focuses on climate change adaptation plans in Portugal, with particular emphasis on human health. He coordinated the IN-HALE project, dedicated to investigating heat exposure in indoor spaces and adaptation attitudes in the elderly population. Additionally, he is currently involved in studying heat vulnerability among various vulnerable groups.
