Clinical Pathologist by the Order of Portuguese Physicians (Ordem dos Médicos). Management Competence by the same Order and European Clinical Chemist by the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.Former Director of the Clinical Pathology Department of H. do Desterro, H. dos Capuchos and H. Fernando Fonseca. Associate Professor of Medical Biochemistry, Nova Medical School University from1989 to 2007. He then chaired the Master Course in Chemical Pathology and directed the respective Office of Postgraduate Teaching. Former President of several Scientific Societies (Portuguese Society of Clinical Pathology; Portuguese Society of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Diseases). Accepted in 2005 as “Member of the New York Academy of Sciences. President of the Order of Portuguese Physicians (Ordem dos Médicos) in two three-year terms (1999/2001 and 2002/2004). Counselor of the National Council of Ethics of Life Sciences in two terms (1999/2005 and 2009/2015). Bestowed with: Distinguished Services Gold Medal of the Ministry of Health. Numerous conferences, communications and “posters” presented at national and foreign scientific meetings, as well scientific papers published in national and foreign magazines on topics of Medicine in general and Clinical Pathology in particular, History of Medicine, Ethics, Deontology, Medical Law, Health Policy, Health Management, etc.
